Blog 24:Independent component 2

L (a) “I, Sophia Mendez, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.”  (b) I did 30 additional hours of service learning. I received proper knowledge on how to decontaminate instruments and how to wrap them.

  I

I literally did 30 more service hours at the hospital.

A

How did it help you answer your EQ? The 30 extra hours of service learning helped me to come up with some of my answers to my essential question being "what is the best way to be a successful surgical technician?" through 30 extra hours i was able to gain facts that would later be used in my I search paper. It helped me reach my answers because I got to see first hand that my answers were stuff most of them did, including maintaining an operating room routine.

What is the most important thing you gained from this experience? Why?

-That is a hard question, I gained so much from this experience including; communicating with my dad better, I gained more knowledge, I gained back my passion for science, and I gained accomplishment. This whole year has been hectic but I must say I feel accomplished.

Applied

How did what you did help you answer your EQ?  Please explain.

In many ways it let me see from a first hand experience what surgical technicians each do so i got to see their own rituals that they had and the standards being practiced. I got to see how they each play different roles, and i got answers to my EQ through paying attention to what one does, that the other doesn't showing me their differences and different ways to approach something.

Blog 18: The poduct

The end product to my whole senior project is building a closer relationship with my father, through him being my mentor to my service learning and through him teaching me everything i know about this field. He was able to show me what it's like in this field through a first hand experience, he did not only tell me how to do things but he showed me. I was able to rekindle my passion for this field, I was beginning to think I did not have a plan for my life after high school, because I lost hope in myself but through this I'm beginning to believe I have a shot. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150599977609013&set=a.413230164012.188095.737804012&type=1&ref=nf
